Alexandria Mills being crowned Miss World 2010

Miss USA World 2010 Alexandria Mills was handpicked by the modeling agency Elite Models. She becomes the representative of the United States of America at the 2010 Miss World pageant without winning a national beauty pageant. Alexandria Mills of Louisville is a professional model with Elite Models. Since 2007, the representatives from the United States -Abigail McCary, Lane Lindell and Lisa Marie Kohrs- are part of this modeling agency.

The 18-year old beauty is a fresh High School Graduate and hopes to become a teacher. Her hobbies include traveling and playing the French horn and percussion in her free time. The 5ft 9. inch (1.75m) model is also quite passionate about singing.

Her motto in life is ‘The best things in life are worth waiting for, fighting for, believing in, and just never letting go of’.

Alexandria Mills has made the United States proud by becoming the 60th Miss World. She was crowned Miss World 2010 at the Finale held on October 30, in Sanya, China. Earlier, Alexandria was the first runner-up at the Miss World Beach and the second runner-up at the Miss World Top Model Fast-Track. She became the third Miss World winners from United States: 1973 MARJORIE WALLACE from INDIANA; 1990 GINA TOLLESON from SOUTH CAROLINA; 2010 ALEXANDRA MILLS from KENTUCKY.

Mariah Carey announces she's pregnant

NEW YORK (AP) - Mariah Carey is going to have to add lullabies to her repertoire. The superstar singer confirmed on NBC television Thursday that she and husband Nick Cannon are expecting their first child.

Carey says the baby is due in the spring. Carey had declined to discuss her pregnancy, the subject of rampant speculation for months, until now.

"Yes, we are pregnant, it's true," she said in an interview with "Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush that was shown on NBC's morning show "Today."

"It's been a long journey, but it's been tough because I've been trying to ... hold on to a shred of privacy, and that was not easy."

Carey, 40, and Cannon, 30, have been the subject of a baby watch since they got married after a whirlwind romance two years ago.

They laughed off the rumors when they occurred soon after their wedding.

"We thought it was fun, because they kept saying, 'Oh she's pregnant.' Yeah, whatever. So we took the test and it was positive," she said.

But Carey had a miscarriage soon afterward. "It was really sad, so we really had to absorb this and take it in," she said.

Cannon hailed his wife's strength for being able to laugh in front of the cameras, but later, "crying herself to sleep."

Bush said that Carey told him the baby was conceived naturally, and added that the couple does not know the sex of the baby.

Besides a baby on the way, Carey also has a new album: her second holiday CD, "Merry Christmas II You."

Papaya and Lor Han Quo Soup

Ingredients

o 200g half-ripe papaya
o 4 honey dates
o 50g dried longan meat
o 1 piece Buddha?s fruit (lor han quo), smashed and rinsed
o 1 litre water

Method

Skin papaya and cut into small cubes.

Bring water, honey dates, lor han quo and dried longan to a boil. Cook for 5-6 minutes.

Transfer all ingredients to a double-boiler.

Add papaya and double-boil for 30-35 minutes.

Serve warm.
