New Talent Singing Awards (Traditional Chinese: 新秀歌唱大賽) or NTSA for short, later re-organized into New Talent Singing Awards International Finals (Traditional Chinese: 全球華人新秀歌唱大賽) or NTSA International Finals for short), and most currently re-named TVB8 International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship (Traditional Chinese: TVB8全球華人新秀歌唱大賽) is an annual singing competition organized by TVB that searches out new singers to enter the Asian music industry.

Astro新秀勇闯决赛

经 过《TVB全球华人新秀歌唱大赛 2010》三场竞争激烈的淘汰赛，《Astro新秀大赛2010》三甲张诒博、刘佩芯（Stephanie）和陈慧莹（Fyone）不负众望，搭上决赛列 车。三场淘汰赛中，七位新秀成功进入决赛，另外八位落入“救生网”的新秀，其中一位则透过全球网民投选，成为“复活战士”，一同跻身终极八强，争夺新秀宝 座。

《TVB全球华人新秀歌唱大赛 2010》决赛将于2011年1月9日，星期日晚上9点在香港将军澳无线电视城进行，Astro华丽台（第311频道）亦会在2011年1月16日，星期 日晚上9点与无线电视同步播出。大会司仪由森美、金刚和田蕊妮出任，评审席由陈奂仁、陈秋霞、黄韵玲、雷颂德、黎小田、吕方和赵增熹组成。

Keputusan AJL 25 Mengejutkan

Mengejutkan. Menghampakan. Itulah antara keluhan yang didengar daripada peminat dan rakan-rakan yang turut sama menyaksikan Anugerah Juara Lagu 25 (AJL 25) sebentar tadi. Seakan-akan tidak percaya keputusan yang diumumkan.

Malah penonton bertindak meninggalkan stadium tika nama Ana Raffali diumumkan sebagai Juara Lagu 25. Buat pertama kalinya pemenang di booo penonton. Biasanya peminat pasti akan menunggu untuk dengar si juara membuat persembahan semula.

Entah di mana silapnya sehingga rata-rata yang menonton tidak dapat menerima kenyataan Ana Raffali merangkul anugerah berprestij ini? Ketua juri, M. Nasir menjadi individu pertama dipersoal tika pemenang diumumkan, namun dia tetap yakin keputusan yang dibuat begitu tepat.

Baginya laguTolong Ingatkan Aku mempunyai nilai kejujuran yang tinggi dan keputusan dilakukan dengan penuh kesedaran.

"Tolong Ingatkan Aku lagu yang sensitif, personal dan simple. Itu yang kami cari sebenarnya. Mungkin lagu ini tidak popular dan lagu lain lebih ramai peminat. Banyak lagu yang sedap tapi lemah pada liriknya. Lirik memainkan peranan yang besar kepada sesebuah lagu.

"Saya sedar keputusan ini akan dipertikaikan, namun apa yang penting rasa yang hadir dalam diri bila mendengar lagu ini. Lagu ini jujur berbanding lagu lain yang bertanding. Juri memilih lagu yang bagus, bukan lagu yang popular," ulasnya.

Apa kata Ana?

Pertanyaan pertama diajukan, apakah rasa hati apabila melihat hadirin bertindak meninggalkan dewan sejurus namanya diumumkan pemenang AJL 25?

Ana dilihat hanya melayan perasaan dan tersenyum sendirian walau dihentam pihak media yang tidak berpuas hati dengan keputusan juri.

Kata Ana, semua berhak menyatakan pendapat, namun keputusan juri adalah muktamad dan juri lebih berhak menilai lagu terbaik untuk dinobatkan sebagai juara.

"Saya tak sedih orang tak suka kemenangan saya. Kalau orang tak suka saya nak buat macam mana. Mungkin mereka balik awal sebab tak mahu bersesak-sesak (ketawa). Ternyata saya bukan peserta pilihan mereka.

"Namun peminat kena faham keputusan juri sebab juri terdiri daripada individu berpengalaman dan bijak pandai dalam muzik. Mendapat persetujuan mereka merupakan satu kemenangan terindah.

"Nak atau tidak, saya sudah mendapat kemenangan. Lagipun masih terlalu awal untuk berkata orang tak sukakan saya. Saya masih baru dalam industri dan ini penampilan pertama dalam AJL, berilah masa dan peluang," luahnya bersyukur dikurniakan kemenangan walau diuji pelbagai masalah sebelum persembahan.

Rihanna equals Elvis' record


Rihanna is first female solo artist in chart history to achieve five number one singles in consecutive years

R&B singer Rihanna took the pop music charts by storm this week with a number one single, album and two other songs in the charts.

The Official Charts Company said on Sunday that the singer from Barbados had re-written the record books becoming first female solo artist in chart history to achieve five number one singles in consecutive years with "What's My Name".

The only other solo artist to equal this achievement was Elvis Presley in the 1950s, it said.

The 22 year old singer knocked X Factor champion Matt Cardle's "When We Collide" from the top spot to number two after three weeks at number one.

Her Album "Loud" held on to its number one slot beating off competition from British rapper Plan B's "The Defamation of Strickland Banks" which had been ahead in the race for pole position last week.

Beckhams expecting baby No.4


David and Victoria Beckham are adding to their brood.

A spokesperson for the power couple has confirmed that Victoria is pregnant and revealed that the family is "naturally delighted" by the news, according to the BBC.

But the spokesperson declined to elaborate on how long Victoria has been pregnant.

It is believed that the baby is due in summer.

The couple have been married since 1999 and are already parents to 11 year-old Brooklyn, 8-year-old Romeo and 5 year-old Cruz. The kids are said to be very excited about the arrival of a new sibling, hoping that it's going to be a girl.

Boney M singers reunite after 24 yrs

The original three female singers of the 70s hit disco band Boney M reunited after 24 years in Amsterdam to pay tribute to late bandmate Bobby Farrell.

The 61-year-old was the sole male singer in the band and was found dead in a Russian hotel room about a week back.

"We will miss you, your dance moves. Without Bobby, there is no Boney M," said Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams and Marcia Barret after taking the stage near the flower covered coffin.

American soul singer George McCrae of the 1974 single 'Rock Your Baby' fame also performed, reported Daily Mail.

Russian investigators said heart disease was the cause of death.

"It was not a suspicious death. Heart disease was the cause," said Sergei Kapitanov, representative of St Petersburg's branch of Russia's investigative committee.

The band's hits include 'Daddy Cool', 'Ma Baker' and 'Rasputin'. Their 'Brown Girl In The Ring' and 'Daddy Cool' released in 1978 was the biggest selling single of that year.

It still remains the sixth biggest selling single of all time in Britain.

Charmaine to leave TVB?

Looks like letting actress Charmaine Sheh lose the best actress award at the TVB Anniversary Awards is going to cost the Hong Kong broadcast station their leading lady.

Recently, it was rumoured that Charmaine was not pleased to have lost to Sheren Teng at the TVB Anniversary award and has made the decision to leave TVB once her contract ends.

At an endorsement event for a skincare product on Jan 6, the TVB actress was asked about the rumour and when her contract was going to end.

"We have already been discussing the renewal of contract for the past two years. I'm only asking for productions with good quality. I've done many dramas and characters, so the only concern I have now is to give audience something new," replied Charmaine.

Charmaine laughed and said she "did not know where the rumours come from" when asked if she would extend her contract with TVB. The actress also said she "still belonged to TVB".

However, Charmaine admitted that while she wished to advance her career in China, it would all depend on the new drama's production quality.

"China is a big market, and they need a lot of actors. The pay for a drama is also higher in China. However, after you add in commercials and events, the remuneration is similar to those in Hong Kong. So, I'm just looking at the quality of production," said Charmaine.

Farm owner to surrender dogs to Veterinary Dept

GEORGE TOWN: The owner of two mongrels that attacked an Irish tourist is willing to surrender the canines to the state Veterinary Department today.

The owner, who was only identified as Teoh, said it was the right thing to do.

“Although it is sad that they may need to be put to sleep, it is the right thing to do. I will also help the victim’s friend to contact his family and to assist in the funeral arrangement,” he said yesterday.

Teoh said the canines were fed with dog biscuits instead of meat as he did not want them to be aggressive.

He said his wife saw two of their four mongrels – a male and a female – attack Maurice Sullivan, about 50m from their house.

“My wife saw Sullivan trying to escape but the two dogs chased after him. They bit his ears, hands and legs. She tried to pull the dogs away but to no avail,” he said, adding that his wife suffered light injuries on her fingers and legs.

The 41-year-old farm owner said Sullivan, whom he only met 24 hours earlier, had played with the dogs on Saturday.

He said they had been rearing the dogs for two years and always kept them in the cage after being fed in the morning.

Describing the male one as friendly and the female dog as shy, Teoh said they started rearing the dogs to look after the farm because of wild boars and pythons in the vicinity.

Penang Municipal Council public health standing committee alternate chairman Tay Leong Seng said its enforcement personnel were investigating the reasons behind the attack and whether the owner was licensed to rear the dogs.

“Under our new bylaws, an owner can be fined RM2,000 to RM3,000 but this has yet to be gazetted. So, under our 1977 provision, we will only have the authority to catch the dogs and put them to sleep after conducting an investigation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Penang SPCA administrator Lily Leng said it was rare to see a human being bitten to death by dogs.

“Unless the dogs have rabies or are attacked, they are usually tame,” she said.

Dogs that mauled tourist shouldn't be put to sleep

GEORGE TOWN: Don't put the dogs to sleep.

This is the view of Malaysian Animal Welfare Society president Shenaaz Khan, who felt the canines can be rehabilitated.

She said the dogs that mauled Irishman Maurice Sullivan to death at an organic farm in Teluk Bahang, near here, on Sunday should not be blamed for the incident.

"The public must try to understand why the dogs behaved in such a ferocious manner.

"Was this a result of their training? Or was it related to how they were being kept?" she asked when contacted here Monday.

Meanwhile, Penang Hospital senior consultant pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh said Sullivan, 50, died of severe haemorrhage.

He said there were multiple bodily bites, especially on the limbs, head and neck of the deceased.

"There were laceration wounds on his jaw and left neck. His left face and both ears were also torn off," he told reporters after conducting a three-hour post mortem at the Penang Hospital mortuary here.

Tourist dies in dog attack

GEORGE TOWN: An Irish tourist died after he was attacked by two dogs at an organic farm in Teluk Bahang, about 25km from here.

The ears of Maurice Sullivan, 50, were bitten off and his chin was almost torn off in the attack which occurred at about 10am yesterday.

He also suffered bites on his body.

The cause of death has not been determined as it is learnt that the victim could have suffered a heart attack because of the trauma.

Sullivan, a volunteer helper, had gone to the farm with his 28-year-old Polish friend Agnieszka Jablonska to photograph organic plants there.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Mohd Hatta Mohd Zain said Jablonska had then walked to another part of the farm to take photographs of plants, leaving Sullivan alone before the attack.

“We are investigating why the canines attacked Sullivan,” Supt Mohd Hatta said, adding that the case was now classified as sudden death.

Jablonska, who works as a welfare home caretaker in Ireland, said Sullivan was visiting Penang as a voluntary environmentalist.

“He invited me to join him. We had earlier visited Grik in Perak and Pahang before arriving here,” she said.

Jablonska said they had known each other for 10 years and dated for a few years.

“I arrived in Malaysia on Nov 11 and was scheduled to leave on Feb 11. Maurice had been here since August.

“I do not want to stay here any longer. I want to leave immediately,” she said.

A post-mortem will be carried out at the Penang Hospital by senior consultant forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh at 9am today
