Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are expecting a boy and a girl.

The couple - who are due to have twins in April - have revealed they will be welcoming a baby of each gender into the world, and were surprised nobody had guessed their happy secret.

Mariah, 40, told Life & Style magazine: "Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender-neutral because I didn't want to impose an identity on them too soon.

"There were fan contests on twitter about what gender they are and rumours about them being two boys or two girls - but nobody guessed this!"

Meanwhile, Nick - who broke the news the couple were expecting their first children back in December - confirmed they would be having mixed gender twins.

He told E! Online: "It's a touchy issue because you never want to say too much too early. If my wife says it's true, then it is."

The 30-year-old actor-and-comedian recently admitted he and Mariah have come up with some "unique" names for their unborn offspring.

Nick said: "They won't be getting crazy names like Carburetor or something. But they're definitely unique."

Bond theme composer dies


John Barry, winner of five Oscars and the man behind much of the James Bond movie music, died of a heart attack in New York, according to The Sun.

He was 77 when he passed on on Feb 1.

His dramatic themes for 12 Bond films - including Goldfinger starring Shirely Eaton - were as much a part of the secret agent's on-screen armoury as 007's Walther PPK.

But Barry didn't just write the soundtrack. He lived the part.

In the Swinging Sixties he was the archetypal playboy, clocking up female conquests almost as fast as he did musical scores.

He arrived in Soho from Yorkshire in 1958 and quickly established himself as the genius behind the popular new Bond franchise.

Five years later he left his first wife Barbara Pickard and daughter Susie for Swedish au-pair Ulla Larsson who, after giving him second daughter Sian, returned to her homeland.

While Barry's Bond themes were often accompanied on screen by writhing naked women, his social life was hardly less racy.

Michael Caine, who he met making Zulu in 1963, shared his flat in London's Knightsbridge, and dubbed him "a big ladies' man".

He won his first two Oscars for Born Free (1966) and added a third for The Lion In Winter (1968).

Fox bites lump out of mother's arm

A fox bit a lump out of a mother's arm when she got out of her car to shoo it away after it had refused to move for her vehicle.

Debra Adams, 46, was left with blood pouring from the wound in a narrow country lane in Cornwall in the United Kingdom.

She has had two operations, a skin graft and spent ten days in hospital following the attack.

The mother-of-four, who was bitten on her 46th birthday, said she has lost feeling in part of her arm and doesn't know if it will return.

She got out of her Peugeot 206 after the nonchalant fox, sitting in the middle of the road, didn't move when she honked her horn at it in Fraddon, Cornwall.

After being bitten she quickly got back into her vehicle fearing she would be attacked again.

She wrapped her arm in a towel before driving away.

Princess Di's niece kicks man on crutches

Princess Diana’s 18-year-old niece flicked a cigarette at a man on crutches before kicking and hitting him, a court was told.

The full extent of the physical attack allegedly carried out by Lady Amelia Spencer became clear as she appeared in court for the first time.

Official documents revealed that the young aristocrat has been formally accused of flicking a cigarette butt into the taxi then swearing, smacking and kicking the taxi’s passenger, Ricci Cinti.

Lady Amelia, who is the daughter of Diana’s brother Earl Spencer, allegedly carried out the assault with a male companion as they waited to buy burgers at a branch of McDonald’s in South Africa.

It had previously been alleged that she launched into a foul-mouthed tirade and struck the vehicle.

According to reports, the teenager flew into a rage when Cinti’s taxi cut in front of a Mini Cooper at a drive-through branch of the burger chain in Cape Town.

Cinti, 27, who was on crutches following a football injury, claims Lady Amelia swore at him and smacked his taxi.

He alleges that he was pulled out of the car and knocked to the ground.

16-year-old charged with triple murder

ALOR GAJAH: A 16-year-old boy was charged at the magistrate’s court here yesterday with the triple murder of three youths at Jalan Paya Mengkuang, Masjid Tanah here at 10.45pm on Jan 21.

He was charged with the murders of Lan Ee Shen, 20, Chong Sang Keong, 17, and Tai Chi Yong, 18, under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries a death penalty. No plea was recorded. Magistrate Mohd Hadi Hakimi Harun fixed March 2 for mention pending the results of the post-mortem and the DNA reports.

Maid flees with RM450,000 in valuables

KOTA BARU: A man incurred almost half-a-million ringgit in losses when his Indonesian maid absconded with valuables and collectibles from his house here four days ago.

Kelantan deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Mazlan Lazim said the 34-year-old woman known as Neglis escaped when her employer was not at home.

“The victim, Foo Kiat Chai, realised his maid was missing when he returned home at 6pm on Jan 28.

“He became suspicious when valuables, collectibles and heirlooms stored in a room were missing.

“Police have launched a hunt for the suspect who hails from Bandung and holds a passport (No. AP 168246). We urge anyone with information to contact us to facilitate investigations,” he added. — Bernama
