Charmaine Sheh: No long-term contracts with TVB

Charmaine Sheh: No long-term contracts with TVB

Charmaine Sheh had announced that she would be leaving TVB once her contract ends. But rumours are already swirling that the actress is in a hurry to leave.

Earlier this month, the Hong Kong media reported that Charmaine Sheh faked an injury in order to get herself out of upcoming drama Forensic Heroes III.

On Mar 5, Charmaine appeared at a promotional event and denied that she had pretended to be injured. The actress also told the reporters not to "rub salt in my wounds".

Charmaine revealed that her hand injury was an accident. Although her hand has healed she would still have to undergo physiotherapy.

The actress also let on that she suffered heavy monetary losses due to the injury.

When asked about the lucrative contract a Chinese producer is offering, Charmaine, who came prepared, said: "Thank you for your concern. TVB is my home. I'll keep a good relationship with TVB no matter where I go."

The actress acknowledged that she would not sign a long-term contract with the broadcasting company, but will consider short-term one.

The new drama also stars rising actress Kate Tsui and veteran actor Damian Lau.

Chen, 29, is thrilled to be part of Salute Laughing Sir.

“I would like to thank Laughing Gor. Because of him I got the chance to star in a movie (Turning Point). I played his girlfriend in the movie, so I was asked to work with him again this time,” said Chen, who cut her hair for her latest role.

Meanwhile, Wong will have a couple of intimate scenes with Tsui. This time it would be so much wilder.”

Gangland widow jailed for killing brother-in-law

An Australian underworld matriarch was found guilty Wednesday of orchestrating an execution-style murder of her brother-in-law as he enjoyed his daily coffee at a busy suburban cafe.

Judy Moran, a 66-year-old grandmother, was convicted over the slaying of Des "Tuppence" Moran who died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head in Melbourne in June 2009, in a case police described as too far-fetched for television.

The former underworld enforcer, shot at noon at close range by two balaclava-wearing gunmen, was from a family that played a key role in a gang war for control of the city's drugs trade that claimed some 30 lives between 1995 and 2006.

Judy Moran, who uses a motorised wheelchair, had already lost her husband Lewis and two sons Mark and Jason in the Melbourne gang war, which was dramatised in the hit Australian series "Underbelly", likened to US show "The Sopranos".

She subsequently traded on her notoriety as a gangland "black widow" with frequent television appearances portraying her family as unwitting victims of underworld violence.

She clasped a tissue between her hands and bowed her head as the jury delivered the verdict after seven days of deliberations at the Supreme Court. She has not yet been sentenced.

Des It was alleged during the trial in Melbourne that she plotted with a gunman to kill her 61-year-old brother-in-law and that she drove the getaway car to and from the murder scene.

She said she was visiting the grave of her slain son Mark on the morning of the killing and had no motive to harm Des Moran.

But prosecutors said her plan was motivated by an ongoing financial dispute she had with her relative, who she believed was controlling millions of dollars she said was missing from business dealings involving her husband.

The Moran family was part of the so-called "Carlton Crew" which ruled Melbourne's drug trade until a feud erupted with their former driver Carl Williams, who sought revenge after Jason Moran shot him in the stomach.

Williams was linked to 10 underworld murders, including those of three Morans, as his drug empire grew and he hired contract killers to dispose of the Carlton Crew.

Last year he was clubbed to death by fellow inmates in a maximum-security jail, where he was serving a life sentence in relation to three murders

Farmer's hen lays eggs without yolks

Lu Weng, a poultry farmer in China, thought he was cracking up when he discovered one of his hens had begun laying eggs - without yolks.

Baffled Weng, 47, from Fuzhou, in Fujian province, southern China, has been celebrating his clucky break because local restaurants can't get enough of them.

The 'no-yolk' eggs

"They sell for 50 times the normal cost of an egg. They think they are lucky and they are something different for customers to see."

"I make more money from this one hen than I do from the rest of the flock put together," he said.

Now Weng has asked scientists if the bird can be cloned to produce hundreds of white egg laying chickens.

"Because her eggs are sterile she will never pass on the gene. If they can do it for a sheep, why not a hen?" he said.

Lesbian couple welcome quintuplets - A lesbian couple in Australia have become parents to quintuplet

Lesbian couple welcome quintuplets

A lesbian couple in Australia have become parents to quintuplets.

Melissa Keevers, 27, and Rosemary Nolan, 22, have entered the record books for the birth, as the chances of conceiving five babies without fertility treatment are 60 million to one.

The babies - named Charlie, Noah, Eireann, Evie and Abby - were born to Keevers at 26 weeks by Caesarean section in January.

Twenty-five hospital staff were needed for the birth and the babies were so tiny, the couple had to wait to hold them.

Keevers and Nolan used a sperm donor to conceive the children.

The donor has waived his rights to meet the babies but has been described as a 27-year-old American law student.

They already have a 18-month-old daughter, Lilly, through donor insemination.

The couple plan to use a team of helpers to assist them with looking after the quins and are appealing for donations on their website, 2 Ladies 6 Babies.

However, Nolan will not legally have any parental rights over the babies and will not be able to adopt them, as per Queensland law
