South Korean actor Bae donated the most. He has sent one-billion Won (RM2.7mil) to a charity foundation under the Japanese government.

Bae is known for his kindness in helping the needy. He had donated 3mil Yen (RM112,958) respectively to the Mid Niigata Prefecture Earthquake and South Asia Tsunami in 2004.

In Japan, pop star Namie Amuro was speculated online to have donated 50mil Yen (RM1.88mil).

Rock star Gackt has launched the "Show Your Heart" campaign to raise fund for the victims and Yoshiki - the leader of X Japan rock band - donated his limited edition piano for the event.

Veteran singer Masatoshi Nakamura and actor Hayato Ichihara have joined the rescue team at the scene.

These artistes were highly praised by netizens for the good deeds.

But Ayumi Hamasaki received an opposite respond although she also donated 5mil Yen (RM188,264).

The billionaire pop queen was accused of being ungenerous as she was reported to have spent 10mil Yen (RM376,528) a day on clothing and other expenses last year.
