Dislodged roof hits pupil during storm
PETALING JAYA: Year Three pupil Mohd Arif Najmi received five stitches to his forehead when a piece of his school’s roof flew off and hit him during a storm on Thursday.
The student of SK Methodist on Jalan 5/37 here was waiting for the bus after school when rain and strong winds caused five trees to be uprooted and some parts of the school roof to fly off.
His father Mohd Nasran Abd Halim said he received a call from a teacher saying that his son was injured and would be sent to the hospital.
“He is feeling better now and resting at home,” said Nasran.
Pupils of the school were given the day off yesterday but teachers were seen cleaning the mess caused by the storm.
Two goal posts were also flung across the school field due to the strong winds.
A security guard at the school said the storm which began at about 6pm only lasted for half an hour but caused massive damage.
“Luckily it happened when school was already over and pupils were leaving,” he said.
