Empire made from scratch
PETALING JAYA: The cosmetics empire reportedly worth millions of ringgit belonging to Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya was founded on humble beginnings.
Equipped with only an SPM qualification, the Batu Pahat lass’ first stint in the cosmetics industry involved selling the products from door to door.
She subsequently founded Nouvelle Beauty Care Sdn Bhd in 1998, with the first store launched at Plaza Berjaya. Its success quickly saw the opening of the second branch in Kampung Baru.
The company developed the Nouvelle Visages line of cosmetics, which is retailed and carried by over 300 stockists across the country.
The Nouvelle Visages empire has also expanded its presence to neighbouring countries Brunei, Singapore and Thailand.
The brand features 30 products. Although it primarily offers beauty products such as facial wash and creams, the brand is also stamped on selected household maintenance products including detergents and fabric softeners.
