KUALA LUMPUR: A teenager from Beijing left her home here on Aug 26 and has not been seen or heard since.

Coco Li Ming Yang, 13, has lived in the country with her family for six years under the Malaysia My Second Home programme.

She was due to have entered Grade 8 at Sayfol International School earlier this month.

Her mother Wang Mei Yuan said that the girl was last spotted exiting the lift of the D’Alamanda Pudu Impian condominium at 6.57pm in CCTV footage.

In the footage, the teenage girl is seen carrying a small backpack.

“My husband and I believe that she brought along a laptop, the house keys and some cash.

“Her passport was also missing from the house and she left her mobile phone SIM card behind,” Wang said.

A report was lodged at the Pudu police station the next day.

Coco stayed in Malaysia with her businessman father’s acquaintance whenever her parents travel overseas on work trips.

Wang said that her daughter spent most of her time at home surfing the Internet and reading comic books but rarely went out with friends.

She suspects that people Coco met through social networks may be responsible for the girl’s disappearance.

“She would not have the courage to leave on her own,” said Wang, who added that she has lost 6kg since her daughter’s disappearance 21 days ago.

Enquries among the girl’s schoolmates have produced no results. Coco’s parents have resorted to pasting self-printed posters of the teenager.

“I want Coco to know that it is not safe to cut all contact with family and friends. Please come home. Mummy wishes to touch your face and see your smile once more,” Wang said with a sob.

Those with information, can contact Coco’s father Li at 016-633 7811.
