Water level in Kuching at healthy level despite hot weather
KUCHING: The water level in Kuching division is still at its “healthy level” despite the hot weather the past few days.
Kuching Water Board acting general manager Paul Chan said there was rain in the catchment area at Sungai Sarawak Kiri, thus resulting in the healthy water level here.
“The past few days have seen scattered rain and thunderstorms and the water level is alright at this point in time,” he said, adding that there was no problem with the water quality too.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Services Department had forecast that most parts of Sarawak were expected to experience slightly drier weather in the next few days due to the changing wind conditions.
The forecast in Kuching for next week is mostly fair with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Visibility is also forecast to be good for the next seven days due to fair weather.
However, the department said that coastal areas could expect wet weather while the outlook for this month would be normal and the state was expected to receive average rainfall, except Kapit and Bintulu, which would receive slightly above average rainfall.
