Former 'Bachelorette' contestant commits suicide
Former "Bachelorette" contestant Julien Hug, 35, who competed for Jillian Harris's love on season five, committed suicide earlier this week. His body was found in part of the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California two days after his family lost touch with him.
His parents have released a statement to the press. They found a suicide note near him with a messages to his family and loved ones.
"In his letter to us he stated that he was suffering from acute depression and he felt it was his only way out," his parents told People magazine. "While publicly outgoing he was an extremely private person who internalised everything.
"He was depressed and struggling, and nobody knew."
His family confirmed that Hug shot himself, adding, "We feel it is necessary at this time to address the media as we are devastated by some of the comments that are coming out. Our son meant the world to us and this came as a complete shock. We are beyond devastated and completely distraught. What we saw was his thirst for life with fast cars, motorcycles and his love of skydiving."
