ANGRY that his six-year-old son had messed up the chores he was told to do, a father scalded his son's buttocks with a hot ladle.
The incident, in October 2008, was the beginning of a string of abuses and ill-treatment the boy and his younger brother suffered at the hands of their father.
In January last year, the accused, now a 26-year-old security officer, also burnt his younger son - who was nearly four at the time - with a lit cigarette because he had wet the classified section of a newspaper.
A few months later, he stripped and tied the same boy with a cable to a pipe in the toilet to prevent him from damaging items at home or hurting himself, as he had a history of doing so.
He repeated this act in August last year.
When the boy screamed as he was being tied up, he slapped and splashed water on him.
