A DEBTOR turned runner who left pieces of pork and threw hell notes outside debtors' homes over a two-week period was jailed for 36 months on Wednesday.
By placing pork meat at the doorstep of various debtors' units, Lindan Seh Sok Koon, 46, would have known or had reason to believe that her acts might potentially offend Muslim homes, said deputy public prosecutor Davyd Chong.
Of the 14 charges proceeded, two involved Muslim homes that were harassed using pork.
The unemployed woman had agreed to work for a loanshark known as Monkey earlier this year after accumulating $10,000 debts. She had started borrowing from unlicensed moneylenders in 2009 to keep her company afloat. She also acted as a guarantor for some of her friends, most of whom defaulted in their repayments.
Seh ended repaying on their behalf, and when she could not cope with her repayments, her house was harassed.
In February this year, Monkey called and offered her a job. She subsequently accepted the job and delivered debtor notes demanding repayment, placed pork meat at the doorsteps and scattered hell notes outside the units. She harassed a total of 48 units from March 10 till her arrest two weeks later.
